Dressing for TED: What to Wear to Go Viral

A recent New York Times article focuses on an often overlooked aspect of appearing in the public spotlight. When giving a presentation or media interview, we all focus a great deal of attention—rightly so—on our key messages. But what we wear can send a powerful message as well. So, what should you wear for that interview on CNBC or your upcoming investor presentation?

Though it naturally depends on your audience and venue, I always recommend wearing an outfit that is consistent with your brand.

Wear something that makes you comfortable. Avoid wearing a new outfit or shoes. If you are physically uncomfortable, it will affect your confidence and your effectiveness as a credible speaker.
